Hello!

1.26.2014
Oh yes, it is that time again... exams!
Stress, stress and more stress. Next to working on my research proposal for my thesis, I have two exams as well as a presentation to give. All in the following week. Yay. Also, a really bad timing for me to have the sudden need to adjust the layout and design of my blog. Something which I started to work on over a week ago. Tadaaa! After some time, I finally managed to change it and be happy with it (so far). I am no HTML-expert - although I want to be but again where to find the TIME to learn it - but I think I put together some neat things. It took way more time then anticipated, because

a. I didn't really know what I was going for
b. Was lost at finding how/where to do it and what to use
c. Found way too much awesome stuff

When will I ever learn....
I also didn't want to leave this blog of mine unattended aka the reason why I am making this post. Guess you'll see the adjustments on this little blog as I go. No pro blogger or editor yet - meaning suggestions are welcome. In the next weeks I will try to manage a long overdue "Favourite Products of 2013" blog post. Heck, it might even become a small series. Who knows? Paris is just around the corner so watch out for some photos when I return from my final study trip. Aaandd exams, of course exams... my attempt to post weekly by including my Instagram photos didn't follow through. To be honest, more because I was working on the layout than anything else.

Anyways, I am blabbing again. Leave a comment below to let me know what you think of the changes I made and for those who have exams coming up, good luck!

Birthday

1.19.2014
Hi there!

Yes, there's me blowing out the candles on my birthday cake the day after my birthday. It was lovely too still have a birthday cake and I had a nice big piece of it. Didn't manage to blow out all the candles in one go though, 22 is a lot. As the days went on as well as the Christmas break it was also time to plan my birthday party with my friends. Weird enough, this was the first time I actually held a birthday party for my group of friends. It's just so much more difficult to plan something like this when you're born on a holiday.

After grocery shopping it was time to prepare food etc. for the party. Of course there was a lot of food, as always, and it turned out to be a success! In the evening, everyone arrived and after talking about everything and nothing, we played the karaoke game Singstar. My friends and I love playing Singstar and get our voices ruined each time we play. On another note, look at all the amazing gifts I got:

I am glad I celebrated my birthday with my friends and will definitely try to do it again next year. I had a great time and hope my friends did also. Who knows, I might stick to having these kinds of parties instead of having to invite my family which is almost always hard to plan as it was a real treat. On to the next year!

My Week on Instagram #2

1.13.2014
Hello there!

The second week of the 2014 is over which means a new Instagram post. I should have mentioned beforehand that I upload a lot of photos that show food, simply to have ideas when I am living on my own and at some point need some inspiration. Next to this, I am a real foodie and my mom makes the most delicious dishes so I just have to share them on Instagram.

Uploaded this photo on Tuesday when I got back from my first research and writing class and was in need of a snack. Taking bread to school can be tiresome and while I occasionally take muesli bars and that sorts, it was good to have something like this for a change. I love tzatziki sauce and next to fries and other things, it is also a perfect sauce to dip these raw vegetables in... Yum!

My next post wasn't until Thursday, due to the fact that I started school and was mostly busy with studying etc. After having finished work on Thursday evening, I came home and wanted to change into my comfy sweatpants. Scrolling through my feed on Pinterest, I ran across several images of hot chocolate and suddenly was craving for it. Tadaa... hot chocolate in my big Christmas mug with whipped cream and marshmallows.

Oh god, more food! This was taken Friday night when my parents stayed home and as we were all home, my mom decided to buy some special 'salads' to put on warm baguettes from the oven. Displayed here is one with old cheese and garlic-shrimp.

I promise it is the last one in this post containing food and with that also almost the last photo I uploaded on Instagram. My sister and I were home alone after we came back from our jobs and quickly whipped up something to eat. For me, fish cuisine and wraps with crème fraiche, cucumber salad and salmon.

Eating and getting ready in a rush for I was being picked up to meet at a friend's place to watch Return of the King. This was something that has been planned for ages and we finally managed to have the time to watch it together. I've never seen the extended edition and especially not on Blu-Ray. My friend already has an HD tv compared to anyone I know and Blu-Ray made it Super-HD.

On to Sunday which was stood for a full day of studying and writing and sending my motivation letter to several cultural organizations for a possible internship. Something which I was quite nervous about as you can read in my previous post. However, Sunday also meant the final episode of season three of Sherlock as seen by the last photo I uploaded on Instagram that week.

Aand that was it! So sorry if I made you hungry now...

Internship...

1.12.2014

Hello everyone!

Simply cannot believe the first week of ordinary life is over already! My week started with a new period of classes which might be MY LAST. Strange to think that if everything turns out the way it's supposed to I'm almost done with this student life of mine. The course period of January exists of chosen electives and mine are Cultural Entrepeneurship and Creative Cities. Next to this we also have a research and writing class that should help us along with the start of the thesis. My bachelor thesis wasn't done long ago, which again stresses how fast time has gone.

That aside, I finally managed to form a motivation letter to send to possible internship places. Since most of the cultural organisations I am interested do not provide clear answers on their website whether they offer internships or not, I have to just send my letter and cv and keep my fingers crossed. Hopefully, someone is interested and can help me obtain an internship. In case students are not able to find a place to intern or if someone just is not interested in an internship, one can follow the second phase of one of the chosen electives. Luckily, I heard that the students who sign up for the second phase of Cultural Entrepeneurship are actually going to plan or create a event or festival, which sounds pretty cool to me. In case all else fails, which I really hope doesn't of course I have my back up plan.

My blog post for Sunday was actually supposed to be about my birthday party with my friends, but somehow I was in need to just ramble about the stuff I've done 5 minutes ago. Guess, it shows how nervous and excited I am...

Rotterdam

1.08.2014

The last weekend before the end of the Christmas break was a weekend existing of fun things. On Friday I went to Rotterdam together with my mom, my sister and her boyfriend. As mentioned earlier, mom still has some day tickets for public transport and decided we should go to Rotterdam. Since you can only use them after 9 o'clock in the morning during the week, we set off to Rotterdam at 09:51 the first possibility.

Almost two and a half hours later we arrived at the central station of Rotterdam. As seen in the picture above my first attempt at a GIF it was all still festively decorated which I love. Off we went... the wind was so hard that day unbelievable. At the end of the day, mom couldn't even walk by herself because she was blown away. Having sat in the train for quite some time, we were all getting a bit hungry. Next stop: McDonald's.

On New Years Eve I saw a new commercial of McD's advertising its new double and triple cheeseburgers. As my sister and I love cheeseburgers, we went for the double one. Still have to try the triple one. Whilst venturing through the streets of Rotterdam we also came across a fruit stand  FruitOase and saw these delicious looking smoothies. A strange mix at first of blackberries, avocado and mango tasted delicious. I never had a smoothie with avocado and it was great. Definitely will try making this one day at home. Having felt I ingested my extra health kick for today, since everyone around me is sick or getting sick, we went on shopping.

One shop we found that was pretty amazing was Kkec, a sort of Expo, which is a deluxe gift shop with nifty things and gadgets. It was a bit on the pricey side but they had really fun items to look at. Of course we also went to a lot of clothing shops, especially the ones you cannot find near where we leave. These included River Island, Monki, New Look etc. Unfortunately it was just not my day regarding shopping. Usually I always find some nice new clothing items and almost always for a really affordable price, but that day it just did not happen.

However, that was not all. As we went to the Mediamarkt, a multimedia store, we came across some models that used to be on show you know, the ones saying 'touch me!' and it so happens to include e-readers. I love to read and as a student I have to read a lot for my classes. Since this includes pdf's and items you can find online and the fact that I always try to find the books etc. online those books are damn expensive if I had to buy them all it is really useful. My brother and I share a laptop and since I cannot use the laptop without plugging it in I have no option to read on this when I am travelling. Over the years I have grown used to reading most of the literature on my phone yes I know, on that little screen? which obviously isn't the best option. So yes, I now have an e-reader *excited*.

Wondering if we had been in most of the streets and looking for food for me and my sister - my mom and my sister's boyfriend already had some wok to go - we walked passed the Flying Tiger. My friends told me about this shop when I was off to Amsterdam and I had planned a visit to this shop on my way back as I was crossing Eindhoven, but in the end I simply just did not have the time. In a way it is similar to Kkec but is more of an anything handy, gadgety, cute you can find. A random store one might say. In need of a new writing pad, I found this pastel green one and a printed folder.

I remember having been to Rotterdam only once before and had a great time. Whilst I did not succeed in finding new items I could add to my wardrobe, I did have a nice time. I love my new e-reader and will definitely frequently use it. Again this blog post has taken me more time to create than I had planned. I always get so caught up in typing, or should I say rambling? I hope you have had a lovely evening or day and I will see you next time!

My Week on Instagram #1

1.06.2014
Hello Everyone!
Here's my first try at the well-known Instagram blog posts. As stated in my last blog post, since I am using Instagram more and more I would give this a go.

#1 fell in the second week of the Christmas break and I have had my fair share of different teas including this deluxe tea of apple, fig, and date. It was part of the Christmas box my brother received from work and tastes delicious. Of course with all the holidays in the Christmas break there have been some special dishes and snacks including fritters of which I ate about four and an evening of meat grilling. It was also the first time my brother, sister and I had lobster which tasted as my mom perfectly described a mix of surimi and shrimp. Hmm!

My first official break from university life meant also time to catch up with series! AND it so happens that after TWO years, Sherlock returned to the BBC. In case, you do not watch Sherlock, it is a brilliant modern day take on Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle. So excited about its return on the first of January, I watched the episode with two best friends of mine. Next to this my mom and I caught up with Supernatural and Grimm. On Friday my mom, my sister and her boyfriend and I went to Rotterdam. Mom still had some discount tickets for a day trip through the country and with the break almost over, we ventured to that city. Finally arriving on the central station, we were excited to see the city and shop as can be seen by looking at my silly sister on the last picture.

For a little snack, we went to McDonald's and tried the double cheeseburger. One down, one to go as there is also a new triple one. On Saturday I held my birthday party for my best friends, which was a great success. Preparations were done during the day and as always the whole kitchen was quite a mess. After work on Sunday me and a couple of my friends went to see the Hobbit (again). I had seen it the weekend before with my sister and her boyfriend in 2D and yesterday I saw it in HFR 3D. A nice way to end my Christmas break I should add. Now it's back to classes and homework, stressing, finding an internship and preparing for my thesis. Let's see what photos end up this week on my Instagram!

One Year

1.01.2014

Hello there! An entire year has passed since I started this little blog of mine. So far I have published 43 posts and although I did not reach my goal of posting at least once every week I am actually a bit proud I've made it this far. What started as an outlet and new take on what I could do on the Internet as if I wasn't already spending enough time on it has now become a part of me. As everyone around me grew slowly accustomed to me taking pictures of literally anything it has become a major habit of mine. My mom already did and still does it with all her cooking to much mouthwatering reactions of her and my friends on Facebook.

As for this year, I hope to fill this blog even more with things I am up too, ramblings which is basically everything and of course photos, photos, photos! Since I am uploading more and more on Instagram I might even start those well-known 'my week in Instagram' posts. For now, I am trying to enjoy these last Christmas break days before heading back to full time university life. One month of regular classes and then it's internship/one subject class/thesis writing process. However, I also have some things to look forward to next to school and of course work. Concerts of James Vincent McMorrow and Bastille are coming up and I already cannot contain my excitement for these. Next to these I still have one study trip on my list which will be to Paris for three days at the start of February. Quite funny to mention this since my first posts on this blog of mine were about my trip to Paris with my friends during the last Christmas break.

Here's to another year of blogging! A huge thank you to all the lovely people, you, that have been here from time to time. Whether you accidentally stumbled upon it, only saw one post or are continuing to read every little thing I write, THANK YOU.
