In case you couldn't be at the press event, like me, there are numerous of handy sources that live tweeted the event including @Festileaks, as well as it being broadcast on the radio (3FM) and even a live-stream. Tickets can be purchased from 28th of February (10:00) onwards. Weekend tickets are being sold for €180 whereas day tickets are being sold for €95. The festival has managed to stretch its maximum duration to one extra hour in the evenings. Yay! Thirteen acts are still to be announced in the coming weeks, with names as Angus & Julia Stone, Twin Atlantic, James Bay, and Lonely The Brave that popped up to still be in negotiations.

What do you think of the line-up announced so far? For me it is not a super-exciting line-up. Usually I have no doubts about getting a weekend ticket, but now I think I will just wait until all the acts are announced and then make a decision on whether to go at all or not. Sunday seems like a good option though if I were to pick one out of the three. This is of course all personal taste. Let me know what acts you would like to see in the comments below.

The 'Me Time'│TAG

2.23.2015

Remember that lack of routine in my life? Well, that has turned a complete 180 with a new job whilst at the same time working at my old job for the time being. My week was pretty busy hence this post on Monday instead of the usual Sunday. Who knows, maybe I will turn Monday into my day to share a post with you. Depends on how it all works out. With Valentine's Day in mind, the Carnival season and me feeling a bit under the weather around the same time I thought today's post would be a perfect opportunity to do the 'Me Time' tag created by EssieButton and AmeliaLiana on YouTube which you can view here

What do you watch or read during me-time?
Usually I watch whatever episodes of series I still have to catch up on. I watch a LOT of TV series, not kidding. From the Vampire Diaries, the Originals, and Reign, to Modern Family, 2 Broke Girls, and Suits. On top of this I love to catch up on all the YouTube channels I follow. I love watching vlogs and seeing how people are having a great time which sounds a tad sad. We all do it, don't tell me you're not. As for reading, I am currently reading 'Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnus Nutter, Witch' by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. So far I enjoy reading it immensely.

What do you wear during me-time? #nobra
During me-time my outfit is as basic, warm, and as comfy as it gets - my sweatpants and whatever top I can find with a comfy loose sweater. The #nobra situation however, as mentioned by EssieButton and AmeliaLiana, does not apply to me.

What are your me-time beauty products?
Unfortunately the bath is too small for me so I do not have any bath or LUSH products to recommend, but I do love to pamper my face by going through an extensive face cleansing routine consisting of a gentle facial wash, a scrub, and a good face mask. I am always switching my face masks and currently I option for the Dead Sea Minerals Facial Anti-Stress Mask by Freeman, the Mint Julep Mask by Queen Helene, or the P.S. Love Your Skin oil balancing peel off mask by Primark. After a face mask I moisturize. For my eyes I use the under eye moisturiser by Kruidvat for sensitive skin, and for my face I use the Kruidvat moisturizing night cream for the normal and combination skin. When I take a me-time moment I usually do it right before I go to bed to fully relax hence the night cream. I also pay more attention to my hands especially during the colder months. After a buff and shine with the P2 6-Step Buffer, I apply some of the product from the nail care pencil by Essence on my nails and cuticles and moisturize my hands using the Soap & Glory Hand Food which smells divine.

Current favourite nail polish?
If I have time left to paint my nails...Maybelline Color Show in Burgundy Kiss.

What do you eat/drink during me-time?
TEA. Oh yes, a good warm or hot cup of tea. The bigger the cup, the better. When you drink a cup of tea at the right temperature it just takes all the stress away. Even if it is just for a moment. I usually go for the good ol' original English tea by Pickwick. As for what I eat during me-time, it all depends on what is available really. Nonetheless, I do have to say that when I end up eating sweets, I usually also crave for something salty or sour to balance it up. Chocolate really isn't my thing,  which is a shocker I know and probably what everyone would go for. Just give me everything else.

Current favourite candle?
This is a difficult one for me to answer as I do have some candles in my room, but they all haven't been lighted yet. Part of it is due to the fact that I find it odd to light candles in my room (still living with my parents) instead of in a living room or something. Since there hardly is a time when I am home alone, they just are there for decoration. That being said, I have two candles that I look forward to: the summer rain and vanilla almond scent from Xenos

Do you ever have outdoor me-time?
Outdoor me-time...sometimes I suppose. Those rare moments when I walk around - usually with errands to run - and just enjoy being outside. Taking in the fresh air and look at the trees or when I take some time for myself to shop - with or without intended products to get in mind. A lot of times it feels like something that has to be done or there is a lot of rushing involved, but there are times when it can be considered as outdoor me-time.

Would you ever go see a movie alone?
Yes, I would and I have done so even if it was only once. My parents and siblings found me mad for doing it, but I quite enjoyed it. It was right after my master's introduction day and with some time to kill and having half a day filled with new experiences and people (introvert-me talking here) it was nice to sit in a dark room where nobody paid attention to you and unwind a bit before I was off to spend the night over at a friend's house which was fun and a great ending of that day.

Favourite online shop?
I have never bought something from an online shop, and there really is not one online shop I return to continuously. Sometimes I look for things on Etsy when I come across something on Pinterest or Tumblr, or I go to TopShop or BrandyMelville to look at some clothing items, but I hardly visit online shops.

Anything to add? What else do you do during me-time?
What else do I do during me-time...I listen to music. Nothing in particular, it really all depends on the mood I am in. Listening to really eerie music such as Florence and the Machine, or indie/folk for when I want to relax. Then again, sometimes I want to dance and be crazy and listen to songs that are more upbeat. Whatever works for me in that specific moment.

Aaaand that's it for the Me Time Tag! I hope you've enjoyed reading it, let me know if you decide to do the tag as well. As for me, I am going to catch up on some of the TV series I watch as I have missed all of them last week.

Most Loved Outfits│Carnival

2.16.2015
Hello!

My apologies for not having a post up yesterday, but here in the Netherlands we are currently in the midst of Carnival! I dressed up and celebrated over the weekend - a bit under the weather at the moment so taking a full day of resting with my laptop as my friend - and thought it would be nice to show you some of the outfits that I love to wear every single year. My mom and I took all the carnival items from the attic to the living room to assemble complete costumes or outfits, making it easier to pick and choose if a family member had to head out in a funny costume. Resulting into this:

Since my mom got a mannequin for Christmas I thought I would put it to use and show you a couple of my favourite outfits and pieces that I like to wear when I am out partying with friends during the Carnival days.

I am starting off with some basic pieces that I have worn a lot of times in the last couple of years. I always view these two "coats" as my go-to pieces when I am not really in the mood to totally dress up, and at the same time I absolutely adore these and wish I had something like this in my wardrobe. Although not meant for this type of costume, they remind me of these old-fashioned circus presenter outfits. I have actually worn them a lot with that style in mind - just throw on a top hat, black shorts, tights, and whatever top and casual or heeled shoes you have in mind and you are all set and ready to go.

On to the actual crown pieces. All adapted from clothing pieces and scraps that my mom found and turned into these amazing costumes. Just look at it! The first one is the most recent one (last year) where my mom just added a lot of flowers to a dress and sequined jacket found at the CoolCat Outlet. The other two costumes have been part of the carnival wardrobe for as long as I can remember although the second one was altered with flowers a couple years back. I have no idea where we got the amazing leather-looking top from but I do know that the top layer of the skirt is from an old princess dress me or my sister had when we were little. The third costume is my absolute favourite, I even won a contest when I participated in scouting. It is a sailor woman costume and I have dressed it up or down to act as a historic/period dress or even with one of the coats I showed earlier. I especially love the detailing on the back of the dress as you can see on the right.

This dress up here has been the latest addition to our "collection" and it is from the fantasy shop Chimera in Amsterdam. Mom had her eyes on it when she went to Amsterdam with my stepdad and when not shortly after my sister, mom, and I went to Amsterdam as well she just had to get it. I wore it yesterday. It was quite sunny outside to watch the parade so I dressed it up with this crochet scarf/poncho, dainty earrings, and an Edwardian inspired updo that I found on Pinterest by Vintagious on YouTube that you can watch here. Very easy to do, I just wish I had more hair to fully rock this stunning style.

If you are interested in more outfit ideas or want to see what kind of atmosphere and setting the cities and towns are here in the southern part of the country during those days, then have a look at some of my earlier posts about this happening here and here.

Bits & Bobs

2.08.2015
  • Catrice and Essence have their new Spring/Summer products online. Both have some interesting products that I am keeping an eye out for. Catrice for instance has a new luxury vintage inspired nail polish line, satin stay cream to powder eyeshadow & eyeliner, and a new eyeshadow base. Essence on the other hand have a I love trends nudes and pastels nail polish edition, pure nude face powder in four different shades, and an I love nude eyeshadow line. Check their new products pages out here and here.
  • New products also means a clear out of old ones, and both Essence and Catrice have a lot of products half off.  Essence have a page on its website dedicated to the products that are leaving, the Dutch one is here. Check your local drugstore if they sell these brands and get those last ones before they are gone!
  • I've recently watched season one of 'How To Get Away With Murder' in two evenings, and apparently just in time for the start of season two. Recommended by a good friend of mine, Esther, it is a show about a group of law students working for their professor who become entwined in a murder plot. As a viewer you get to see flash forward snippets of the murder plot as well as the time line leading up to the actual murder when the group of law students attend their first class of the professor.
  • A short while ago we had a family to trip to Eindhoven to shop at Primark. Usually I come back with clothing items, maybe a pair of shoes here and there and a bag, but this time I came home with a decent amount of other products ranging from skincare to makeup. Keep an eye posted as I might be reviewing some of those products once I have taken the time to properly review them.
  • Yesterday, a couple of my friends and I went to the annual book fair - Boekenfestijn -  at the MECC in Maastricht Randwyck. Sadly, the English novel section - the one I usually get all my books from - was sparse and whilst I did get a couple of books from it, I do hope it will be back in its full glory when it arrives at the MECC again. In the meantime I still have a lot of books on my shelves that I need to read.
  • Last but not least, I have started playing Fallen London (Echo Bazaar) by Failbetter Games, a browser-based Victorian Fantasy RPG where the adventure and your character is entirely based on the choices you make within a text-based game on StoryNexus. Quite a different spin on games I am familiar with as it is a literary game which is probably what perked my interest next to it a. being about London and b. within a Victorian Fantasy setting.

Monthly Music

2.02.2015
Time for a new Monthly Music. To be honest, I haven't listened to a lot of music this past month and I am in need of discovering some new music artists or my future playlists here on my blog will continue to consist of the same music artists and bands. Of course, I do not mind, but new music is always good. Nonetheless, here are thirteen tracks that I have listened to the most in the month of January.

Naughty Boy ft. Bastille - No One's Here To Sleep
The Veronicas - Sanctified
Smashing Pumpkins - Monuments
Tom Odell - Heal
Northern Faces - Wait, Wait, Wait
Kodaline - Unclear
Bastille vs. Rag N Bone Man vs. Skunk Anansie - Remains
Catfish and the Bottlemen - Kathleen
Aloe Blacc - Ticking Bomb
Pablo Sebastian - Lies
Paolo Nutini - Better Man
Vampire Weekend - Bryn
Foxes - Echo

Foodies' Fun

2.01.2015

Hello! Yes, you've seen it correctly, I'm bringing back Foodies' Fun! Some time ago I mentioned that I wasn't going to post a Foodies' Fun post every Sunday but still wanting to make them I do love me some food I am now posting it once a month. A little recap of some of the food and beverages I have been enjoying just like my Monthly Music posts where I compile a playlist of the songs I have been listening to the most.

  • January has just passed and of course I cannot leave this month without showing you some oliebollen for New Year's Eve. Using a simple baking kit where you just have to add a bit of water, but oh so good.
  • Starting on the right track with my resolutions and not being able to use some of the fresh mint we used to have in our little garden due to the weather, I opted for this lemon and mint infused water from a local supermarket. Refreshing!
  • Always a treat when mom has some leftover pancake mix from her egg rolls, meaning I can use it to make pancakes for breakfast instead of throwing all of it away. I especially love to add some cheese or onions instead of the "normal" sweet toppings.
  • A traditional lunch with mom when she and I have to do some grocery shopping and running errands and whatnot. This time a good and warm creme tomato soup. Perfect for the cold weather.
  • Saw these TUC sticks, simply TUC in a different shape, but great finger food to snack on as I am watching an episode of one of my TV series.
  • Mom, my sister, and I went to Maastricht one day in January and treated ourselves on some Greek food for dinner. For me? Stepping away from my usual calamaria and sardelles and instead trying the souvlaki.
  • Toast with a twist for breakfast - sambal, a hot sauce made primarily of chili peppers, and cervelat.
  • Last but not least, the delicious banana bread a friend of mine, Bonnie, made.
Until next time!
