Topshop Lip Products│Haul

10.18.2015

Topshop is a shop I visited for the first time when I was in London a couple of years back with my friends. You can imagine my excitement when I could visit the flagship store on the Kalverstraat in Amsterdam. Upon entering I went straight for the beauty corner, a bit harder to find because it's in the back on the ground floor, and figuring I might not be around a Topshop any time soon (or Amsterdam for that matter - wrong about that one though) went a bit crazy and picked up not one, not two, but five lip products.

From left to right: 'Be My Baby,' 'Lovestruck,' 'Wicked,' and 'Sashay Away'
'Get Me Bodied'

Four of the five are from its core lipstick range, in the shades 'Lovestruck,' 'Be My Baby,' 'Wicked,' and 'Sashay Away' as you can see from left to right in the photo above. Next to these I also got the lip bullet in the familiar shade 'Get Me Bodied' that is at the far right. Quite a peculiar name that one. Lovestruck is a nice pink, and a bit out of my comfort zone because it is a lot brighter than the usual pink nudes I go for, but great nonetheless. Be My Baby is another one that is definitely out of my comfort zone, but a shade I have been on the lookout for in the last couple of months - an orange lipstick shade. Again, on the brighter side, and at first I didn't think it would suit me. I tried working with it by adding a bit of red lipliner to make it a bit darker at first, you know, to get used to the shade. Now, I am in love with this shade and am glad I took the punch. I will say when I apply it I am not so fond of the way it sits and looks on my lips, but after a while when it has set, it is amazing. Wicked is a shade I always tend to go back to, a classic shall we say and I bet this goes for most lipstick obsessed people. It is a dark red - perfect for fall. Sashay Away is the odd one of bunch and I still need to work around this one because of its finish. It is a brown shade and very sheer compared to the others with...wait for it...gold glitter. Still, on the lipswatches at the end of this post it looks okay, it's just that in person...hmm I don't know. Have to play with it a bit more I guess. Last but not least Get Me Bodied a matte and dry finish lipstick. A dark berry tone, and like 'Wicked' a shade I tend to lean towards to that is also perfect for Autumn.

The wearability of these products is very nice albeit that the lip bullet tends to dry the lips due to its matt formula and therefore takes a bit more work for a good and even application. Lasting time is also great. The traditional lipstick range is pretty much gone after having a meal, but throughout the day these do not bleed and although not transferproof last through a drink or two. The lip bullet, again due to its formula, has a longer lasting power. What do you think? Any shades I must get my hands on?

Ardennes│Roadtrip Day Four

10.11.2015
When it was time to wake up it dawned on me that it was the final day of our roadtrip *insert sad face*. My friends and I would leave Lille and take a trip to see a part of the Ardennes and have a picknick in nature before we headed back home. That was the plan at least, but we failed a bit on that part. Okay, maybe not a bit. Once we drove to a place where we could park the car and take a walk from there into the actual Ardennes we first had to make a restroom stop. Funnily enough this led to us walking from the parking lot practically to the other end of the town we were situated at or maybe even the next town - I didn't see any names of the places so I am not sure - and when the stop was made it was already time to go back to the car to head home.

That being said, we took a nice long walk along the river and could still take in the beautiful trees, plants, and birds, despite not actually having walked into the woods. Ah well, when you are with a group of friends it doesn't really matter what you are doing. I guess I'll just have to take a rain check on seeing the Ardennes. I hope you've enjoyed this line of posts of showing you how our roadtrip was. In case you missed any of the other here are the links to our first day in Bruges, our second day at the coasts of Ostend and Duinkirk, and our third day at Lille. Until next time!

Foodies' Fun

10.04.2015
Oh, September...
How fast have you gone by.

October is just starting and I am already looking for its ending because October means only one thing: Halloween! My mom and I are planning away as we couldn't celebrate it in full last year, meaning this year it'll be extra special and instead of just celebrating with our family we're hosting a little party. Nonetheless, let's give a proper goodbye to September with Foodies' Fun.

Food-wise, September was a great month and kicked off with this delicious Ramen dish made by a good friend of mine that I haven't seen in a couple of years. It was great to see her again and catch up!

A little bit of everything back at home: wraps, peas, stir-fried cabbage, potato pancakes and so on.

On a trip to Aachen we had dinner at a place my mom always says we have to try when we walk by as we are headed back to the car. So, this time I remembered that if we had dinner in this city we went to this particular place. For me this meant a nice steak dish for dinner.

High tea for dinner just had to happen again. It's just been too long ago...

An amazing pasta dish my mom tried when my sister said she was in the mood for pasta and spinach. It had a very zesty and fresh taste and those prawns!

To the wok we goooo...and of course I had my fair share of available sushi

At the wok I also had a plate of mussels and not long after that evening we had mussels at home. Odd to think a few years back I absolutely despised eating them, and now I can't get enough.
